A sweet blend of apples and fall spices make this healthy Apple Pie Smoothie a perfect start to your day! This wholesome, delicious taste of the holidays will satisfy your apple pie cravings while giving you a wonderful boost of protein.

While it may be fall in the rest of the country, here in Arizona we are still in the high 90’s! It has us all craving fall without the heat of the oven or hot drinks. The answer? This healthy Apple Pie Smoothie combines the cozy flavors of fall in an icy cold drink with protein. It has my kids asking for more “pie” to get them through their day!
Some of my kiddos like to add whipped cream with cookie toppings which creates the flavor of pie crust, while my gluten-free kiddo enjoys it with whipped cream and cinnamon. This apple smoothie is easy to adapt and a delicious treat for the whole family!

- Fresh apples – I recommend a sweet apple variety like Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp for the best tasting apple smoothie. If you don’t have apples you can substitute applesauce (see Variations and Substitutions section below).
- Unsweetened vanilla almond milk– Unsweetened vanilla almond milk gives a subtle vanilla flavor without the sweetener and dairy.
- Nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt– You can use nonfat or 2%. Whatever you choose, adding Greek yogurt to your smoothie gives you a smooth texture and some added protein!
- Pure maple syrup – This sweet addition gives the smoothie a sweet fall flavor.
- Spices– Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice are the flavors of fall and together they add the perfect touch of apple pie spice.
- Rolled oats– Organic, gluten-free rolled oats give this smoothie a thicker “oat” flavor that adds a little bit of “crust” as well as some healthy carbohydrates to keep you fuller longer!
- Optional toppings – Crushed gingersnap cookies mixed with crushed graham crackers, add the perfect crust flavor. Add whipped cream or cinnamon for a delicious variation.

How to Make Apple Pie Smoothies

- Add all the ingredients into a high powered blender and process until smooth. Add more ice if you like a thicker consistency or a little less if you like a thinner consistency.
- Divide between two 8-ounce glasses.
Optional Toppings
To dress up your Apple Pie Smoothie, add any of the optional toppings to really drive home the apple pie flavor.

- Crushed gingersnap cookies mixed with graham cracker crumbs.
- A sprinkle of cinnamon.
- Take this delicious smoothie over the top and ALL the choices, including whipped cream.
Storage Tips
Once blended with the ice, this smoothie is best if you drink it right away. If you want to plan ahead, you can make it the night before, leaving out the ice, and store it in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, just shake it up, adding ice if you want an iced drink.

Variations and Substitutions
- Adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder ( we love Vega brand) will give you more protein and vanilla flavor!
- If you really want to sweeten it up, try adding a pump of caramel syrup for a caramel apple pie smoothie!
- If you don’t have apples on hand, we have made this smoothie with regular unsweetened almond milk and applesauce (see recipe card below for the details).
- If you don’t have maple syrup, you can use the same amount of honey.
